CILL

I am Cill, a Nigerian-born singer-songwriter and guitarist. My music is a reflection of my journey—deeply rooted in my Nigerian heritage while embracing a fusion of Afro-soul, folk, country, and alternative sounds. Storytelling is at the heart of everything I do, and I use my music not just to entertain, but to connect, heal, and inspire.

My debut EP, Something Cilly, introduced listeners to my world—one filled with love, growth, and the realness of life. But it’s my latest single, Echi, that has truly ignited conversations. Filmed in the Niger Delta, the music video highlights environmental issues and the urgent need for action. For me, music has always been a tool for change, and I’m passionate about using my voice to address important social causes.

Beyond my own music, I actively collaborate with organizations like UNDP, the World Bank, the Ford Foundation, Transparency International, and Accountability Lab, using music as a medium to push for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I am also a member of the Music for Democracy Network by the World Movement for Democracy and was part of the inaugural Voice2Rep project by Accountability Lab.

In 2019, my song All You’ve Got—which educates listeners on good governance and citizen participation in the fight against corruption—won me the Accountability Music Award, where I was nominated alongside incredible artists like Falz, Fatoumata Diawara, Sauti Sol, and Platinum Prince. I also became a Fair Play Music Ambassador, winning the Fair Play Music Competition 2020 and performing at the International Anti-Corruption Conferences in 2020 and 2024. In 2023, I had the honor of being both a judge and performer at the UN SDG Awards in Rome.

Echi Official Music video- Cill ft the Destiny Trust Children

ABOUT ECHI This isn't just a song; it's a visual anthem for a greener future; it's a timeless tune that speaks to the heart of our generation. "Échí" blends soulful melodies with thought-provoking lyrics, urging us to consider the impact of our actions on future generations. Cill's unique style, combined with the rich  voices of the Destiny Trust Children, creates a sound that's both nostalgic and forward-thinking. Through this collaboration, Cill sheds light on the work of the Destiny Trust Foundation, a beacon of hope, transforming the lives of vulnerable children in Nigeria, through their unwavering commitment to education, care, and rehabilitation while providing opportunities for children who might otherwise be left behind, empowering them to reach their full potential. The music video for "Echi" is a powerful visual journey that juxtaposes two worlds: one ravaged by environmental pollution and another filled with hope and sustainability. Filmed in the oil-spill-stricken Bodo Community in Ogoniland, in Rivers State, Nigeria, the video captures the stark reality of environmental degradation. Cill's commitment to highlighting this issue led them to travel to the region, amplifying the voices of the affected communities. This powerful juxtaposition serves as a warning and a call to action, urging viewers to take responsibility for the planet. The video is made possible by the generous support of Accountability Lab Nigeria, Ford Foundation, and Luminate, and is a testament to the power of art to inspire change. It's a call to action, urging viewers to embrace sustainability and work towards a greener future.
